Rules, scoring, controls, privacy, and card art
Variation: This is classic two-handed draw Pinochle with no bidding, a 48-card double pack, and a 1,000-point initial match target. Each identity appears twice. Rank order is A, 10, K, Q, J, 9. Twelve cards go to each player. The next card sets trump and the nondealer leads.
Play: While the stock remains, the follower may play any card. Trump wins, otherwise the highest led suit wins, and an equal duplicate never overtakes the first card. A stock-trick winner may claim one ordinary meld, plus a dix without consuming that opportunity. Winner draws first. On trick 12, the winner receives the last face-down stock card and the loser receives the exposed trump in one transition. Melding then ends. With no stock, follow suit and head if possible. If you cannot follow, trump if possible, otherwise discard.
Meld and dix: Melded cards stay playable in your hand and receive an exposed mark. A claim must expose at least one new physical card. A card may serve a different meld class, but cannot repeat the same class without new cards or a valid upgrade. Trump run 150, trump marriage 40, plain marriage 20, aces 100, kings 80, queens 60, jacks 40, pinochle 40, double pinochle 300, and trump 9 dix 10. Marriage to run adds 110 and pinochle to double adds 260. A turned dix gives the dealer 10. After winning a stock trick, a held dix can be exchanged for the exact exposed trump.
Scoring: Captured A=11, 10=10, K=4, Q=3, J=2, 9=0. Last trick adds 10. Only the final capture subtotal is rounded: remainder 0 through 6 rounds down, 7 through 9 rounds up. Meld is never rounded again. Match end is checked only after a deal. If both reach the target, it rises 250 and another deal begins.
Controls: Click or tap a card marked LEGAL, or drag it to the trick area. With your hand focused use Left and Right, Home or End, then Enter or Space. When a board well overflows, focus it and use Home or End to reach its start or end. After a won stock trick, select exposed combinations and Commit meld, or Skip meld. Escape cancels a drag or card selection before it can leave fullscreen. Hint identifies a legal action. Undo returns to the prior human decision and reverses later computer actions.
Computer and privacy: The opponent is a deterministic local program, not a person. It sees only its hand and public or legitimately inferred information, never your unexposed cards, the face-down stock order, or future draws. The game makes no network calls and stores no personal data.
Card art: English-pattern court figures derive from Dmitry Fomin's "English pattern playing cards deck" on Wikimedia Commons under the CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. The locally embedded 300 by 560 PNG is a cropped, resized, and composited derivative containing all 12 Jack, Queen, and King frames. Number cards use conventional suit pips.
