Rules and controls

This is solid-wall classic Snake on a fair 20 by 20 grid. One apple is always placed uniformly among unoccupied cells.

Eat an apple for 1 point and grow by 1 cell.
Touching a wall or your own body ends the run. Moving into the tail cell as it leaves is legal.
You cannot reverse directly into your neck. A reverse command is ignored.
Fill all 400 cells to win. There are 396 apples after the starting length of 4.
Use arrows or WASD to steer. Space or P pauses. On touch, swipe the board or use the direction pad.
New game prepares a fresh board. Restart now replays the same food sequence at the selected speed, so you can improve the same run.
